AS IT WAS

Seven painters come together to unearth a collection of works created for the first edition of the Auto Amor residency program. Rooted in both personal histories and shared narratives, these works give rise to a world at once familiar and elusive—one shaped by memory, perception, and the imagined. As it Was reflects on fragments of what once could have existed, reimagining them through paint, gesture, and form. From deranged floral offerings to solitary animals wandering through the ambiguous, and desolate; folkloric dreamscapes unfolding alongside quiet glimpses of the mundane, and silhouetted figures gathering in the depths of the subconscious. Together, these paintings form a prologue—an invitation to traverse the known and the unknown, exploring how reality shifts and dissolves through impermanence and paint.
