Marlène Huissoud, based in Paris, explores sustainable materials through her innovative design practice. A Central Saint Martins graduate (2014), she has exhibited at major institutions like Centre Pompidou and the V&A. Cocoon Cabinet reimagines the use of silkworm cocoons without harming the insects, allowing them to complete their metamorphosis. Thousands of cocoons are carefully assembled and varnished with natural honeybee bio-resin, emphasising slow, organic craftsmanship. This was then cast in Bronze. The work celebrates transformation, the beauty of the insect world, and challenges conventional silk production, creating alien-like yet deeply ecological pieces.
