‘Dogmother’ is a bronze sculpture by Payne, created during the London Bronze Editions fellowship. Inspired by an ancient Indian folktale, the piece reimagines two daughters as twin-like dogs, facing outward in a protective stance. The fur texture is formed using a digital simulation of Payne’s grandmother’s string hopper press, linking heritage and domestic labor. A central human face, based on the Corleck head, reflects themes of time, identity, and personal transformation.
